UPROSE has released its Mayoral Briefing on Climate Justice to New York City’s mayoral candidates. 

The briefing lays out a frontline-led vision for addressing inequality, climate disruption, and the decline of industrial jobs. At its core is GRID 2.0 (Green Resilient Industrial District), a framework that demonstrates how Sunset Park and other working-class neighborhoods can lead a Just Transition through community-led resilience, regenerative economic development, and energy democracy.

The Mayoral Briefing calls on the next administration to align with frontline leadership and adopt policies that protect communities from displacement, preserve and expand good-paying green jobs, and invest in infrastructure that prepares the city for a climate-impacted future. It is both a call to action and a roadmap—showing how New York City can transform crisis into opportunity and become a national model for equitable climate solutions rooted in justice.
