Green Reindustrialization Studies

UPROSE’s newly released Green Reindustrialization Studies show that Sunset Park’s community-led vision for a Just Transition is not only necessary, but feasible, investable, and ready for implementation. Produced through the New York State Brownfield Opportunity Area program, the studies examine how Sunset Park can build on its existing industrial base to manufacture the technologies and products needed for New York City’s climate transition, while creating living-wage jobs, strengthening local supply chains, and preserving the working waterfront.

Together, the Green Product Supply Chain Feasibility Study and the Sunset Park Green Reindustrialization Real Estate and Contextual Analysis provide an evidence base for moving the GRID from vision to implementation. They identify real opportunities to attract green manufacturers, support existing businesses, leverage public land, and establish Sunset Park as a national model for community-led green reindustrialization and environmental justice.
