This year for Juneteenth, homegrown and self-taught artist, musician, poet, educator & spiritual activist, Patrick Dougher comes to UPROSE, Brooklyn’s oldest Latino founded afro-diasporic matriarchal community-based organization, for a book signing and reading of his memoir, “CONCRETE DREAMLAND.” The event will conclude with an intergenerational conversation between Patrick, UPROSE’s Executive Director Elizabeth Yeampierre, and up-and-coming artist Nyiesha Mallett.
To celebrate Juneteenth and all of the beautiful ways that blackness breathes life into Brooklyn the event will feature free food from local Haitian restaurants, a Jazz band and will be DJ’d by NYC Dominican legend, CISCO. We have also partnered with Taylor Co. Books, an Afro-Boricua bookshop. RSVP here and join us before space runs out — limited seating available!
