The UPROSE youth leadership program is a holistic, multigenerational, enrichment program for our future leaders in middle school and high school. We focus on nurturing the minds, health and cultures of our young people as they prepare to be the caretakers and nurturers of the natural and urban environment.

At The Table Youth Leadership Development
Thursdays, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm
At the Table is about engaging the youth intellectually. At the Table is a political education and leadership development project. Youth learn the principles of environmental justice and community organizing, they study hands-on the environmental issues in Sunset Park and work collectively toward creating change in their communities.
Media Justice
Media Justice is about nurturing the manner in which young people consume media. Young people are fed messages that are not in their best interest via TV and the internet. This project first trains young people to become critical readers and consumers of media through participating in workshops with filmmakers and movie screenings, and later, to become critical producers of their own media with UPROSE’s newspaper “La Esquinita” or their own creative video.

Summer Youth Empowermentis about engaging the youth in a summer full of cultural, political and environmental exploration. Through hands-on learning and field trips, youth develop their leadership skills and knowledge in social and environmental justice issues in Sunset Park and NYC. Through SYEP, the youth will have the opportunity to initiate their own campaigns or become involved in current city-wide campaigns.
